purrgatory shrine!

cool, a snowglobe!
a snowglobe.
(ok!)

"um, purgatory is spelled wrong here"
"no it's not."

welcome to my shrine dedicated to one of my favourite visual novels of all time!

about the game

the game follows you, the player, through purrgatory (not a typo!). you can't remember who you are, but you know you've passed on. you meet new faces who are trapped down here too, and together, maybe you can make staying worthwhile.

this point-and-click visual novel employs a simple yet charming artstyle to tell the impactful stories of seven characters. indulge in minigames, call the police, and play a tune as you navigate purrgatory one click at a time!

about the characters

this game features a dynamic cast with human emotions, flaws, and pasttimes. have a look!

my own thoughts

on my first playthrough, i instantaneously fell in love with it.

i've probably said this way too many times, but the artstyle is cozy, the characters are three-dimensional, and for a bit, i was completely immersed in the experience. and did i even mention the soundtrack?? it's beautiful!!!

regarding the art, the simplistic yet striking style effortlessly balanced structure and personality. it gives off the characteristic comfort the game provides.

regarding the cast, every character had a compelling story to tell. their stories feel human, like an actual person you just bumped into is in front of you, laughing with you, being awkward around you, or challenging you to a game of tic tac toe.

i am a little bit too attatched to some of these guys for my own good..

it's not even remotely a possibility to say i'd not recommend this game to anyone! i'm already about to explode with praise for this game at all times.

11/10 experience. go play it right now

a collection of elijah's crumpled poetry

"what's up?"
oh, you know. writing words.
wording rights.
righting wrongs and writing wrong words.
"right!"

"papercut"
thin and flimsy, yet
sharper than a thousand knives
why must you hurt me

"stuff you can find in purrgatory"
books
nooks
white walls
long falls
kyungsoon
chicken scratch
a garden with a catnip patch

"roasted veggies"
zucchini, squash, and broccoli
mix with olive oil, apple vinegar, salt, pepper, garlic, thyme, red pepper flakes
roast at 425 for 20 min

"cleaning bird poop off my dad's car"
when i was younger
a bird made a nest
in my window
i thought i was chosen
for greatness
actually
my dad's car was chosen
for bird poop

purrgatory is a maze
and sometimes a haze
but at least here
there are no mondays

"untitled"
when i'm feeling odontophorous
sometimes i will preach to the chorus
don't use big words
or you'll sound like a nerd!
but time and again they ignore us

"untitled"
i'd feel bad for the trees
when i put paper to pen
but now i feel better
cus i'm dead just like them

"untitled"
tinnitus
silent screaming static
shrill and seismic
shit seriously sucks

"untitled"
the flood of '94
i was just a kid
sitting on the musty couch with
my legs pulled up tight
and marlin barking at the water
i thought my couch would float away
across the ocean
to the strange place where
people worship cows and
drive on the left side of the road

(from elijah's blue period; the period when he used a blue pen)
"untitled"
on saturday we play
on sunday we pray
on monday it's a leap day
on tuesday i eat old bay
